FAES Open Enrollment November 1 – 30, 2011

Open Enrollment is the opportunity for you to make changes to your current healthcare coverage and/or add dental coverage for the following year. If you are applying for healthcare coverage for the first time, you should attend a benefits orientation. Orientations are provided Monday thru Thursday (Bg. 10 South Side / Rm. B1 C18) at 10am.

FAES will continue to offer CareFirst BC/BS PPO medical plan for the 2012 calendar year. We will also offer supplemental vision coverage and voluntary dental plans through Dominion Dental Service (DDS), Inc.

Dental Coverage & Supplemental Vision Coverage

Those that wish to participate in a voluntary dental plan and/ or supplemental vision plan for 2012 will need to complete an enrollment form (even if you participated in 2011) and mail the form into to DDS by 11/30/11.

DDS and FAES will be visiting the following NIH locations to provide information on the voluntary dental plans, the supplemental vision plan and answer health insurance inquiries:

Medical Coverage

FAES has introduced the following new enhancements to the CareFirst BC/BS coverage– Effective July 1, 2011:

  • Dependents can be enrolled through the end of the month in which they turn 26.
  • Lifetime Maximums have been removed.
  • No dollar maximum on organ transplant benefits for heart, heart-lung, single or double lung, liver and pancreas.
  • In-network nutritional counseling and health education for chronic conditions are now covered.
  • Dollar limitation(s) removed on hearing aids for minor children.
  • In-network well child examination (0 through 2 years – up to 12 visits; 3 years through 21 years - annual visits) – covered at 100% with no copayment.
  • In-network adult physical examination – (22 years and older) covered one per plan year at 100% with no copayment.
  • Influenza vaccine now covered at 100% with no copayment when administered by an in-network provider.
  • In-network annual GYN examination – covered one per plan year at 100% with no copayment.
